Hey everybody, Sorry for posting my blog late. There was a confusion of what week i'm supposed to do because i didn't have a field on one of the weeks due to parent and teacher meeting. And i also have to do a field on a tuesday (which is not my assigned day). Anyway, week 6 is about curriculum and instruction. Ms. kerster's curriculum invovles learning the alphabet. There's not much of lectures since she is only doing kindergartens. The students learn through songs, videos and memorization. Ms. Kerster would pull up short clips from youtube. Sometimes she even uses different websites to use for her videos. Another technique that she does is using popsicle sticks that has letters in them and have students line up and tell her what the letter is then they can proceed into where they are supposed to go. Sometimes, before playtime she would call one person at a time and ask the person to tell her what letter she is holding. She does this every once in a while so that the students would not forget the letters because each week they have a certain letter that they are focused on. And i think if the students focus only one letter at a time they would have a hard time remembering what the other letters are. Ms. Kerster uses the seasons as her themes for her teaching. So that the students will know and be able to comprehend what is being taught. One example is when it is winter, she teaches about hibernating.
